Full Length fully staged production of Victor Herbert's Eileen which opened in New York City on March 19, 1917 in the Shubert Theatre.  This is a new copyrigted audience tested libretto which closely follows original with 10 principals, full chorus, and full orchestra.

Plot - This full length version defers from the original in that it incorporates more of the source materials Rory O'Moore by Samuel Lover (Herbert's grandfather) making for a much clearer story line.  Barry O'Day meets Eileen in France and falls in love. But duty to his country Ireland is stronger and when he is called to serve an Irish Revolution, he leaves Eileen behind. several years later Barry is home in Sligo Bay ready to lead a rebellion against the British with the help of Lady Maude who is the currently owner of the O'Day lands. Imagine his shock when Eileen just happens to be Lady Maude's niece. Love rekindles but the rebellion still pulls Barry. This is operetta so it all works out in the end but you'll meet some wonderful characters along the way:  the villain Sean Regan, the British representative Colonel Lester; and the wonderful Sir Reginal Stribling of London.

The Score: "Ireland My Sireland," "Too Ra Loo Ra," True Sons of Erin," "When Love Awakes," "Eileen," "Thine Alone,"  "The Irish Have a Great Day Tonight," "If Eve Had Left the Apple" and "When Ireland Stands Among the Nations of the World,"  to name but a few.
